No one would say obesity is attractive, nor healthy. Prevention of obesity is really a straightforward proposition. If you&#8217;ll forgive the pun, prevention of obesity is truly worth many pounds of cure.</p>
<p>People of normal, stable weight may gain a few pounds over the holidays, partaking of all that holiday cheer. Cookies, fudge, delicious gravies and a few glasses of eggnog are all it takes to get you there. However, most people shed those pounds within a couple of months, once they return to normal eating habits. It all comes down to a reduction of calories.</p>
<p>Prevention of obesity should become your target when you find you&#8217;ve gained ten pounds or more and it doesn&#8217;t come off. An alarm should sound off in your head when weight starts creeping on and you seem unable to lose weight. Now is the time to take action! <p>Losing weight always boils down to calories. How do you know how many calories you normally eat? Keep a food journal for one week. Write down every last cracker and soda that passes your lips. There has been a couple of reasons for this, the first is the extra weight I put on whilst in pregnancy, far more this time than my first daughter, I have heard that this is common and plenty of women tend to carry extra weight whilst in there second or third pregnancy. </p>
<p> It is expected that a women will put on weight whilst pregnant but 3 or 4 months after the birth though,  this is when it started to be an issue for me, this is when I felt I should of lost the extra weight (if only I had known about <a href="http://www.huge-promo.com/stripthatfat/" target='_blank'>Stripthatfat</a> at this time!) you see, my weight was still going up! Something my husband noticed and I refused to see, was that my eating habits were changing. It was very rare in the past that I would ever eat snacks between meals and my portion size at meal time was fairly small, also I would leave food on the plate as soon as I started to feel that full sensation.</p>
<p>Now things had changed,  I was eating between meals, not much but enough though if you know what I mean. Two or 3 biscuits with a cup of coffee mid morning and a Snickers bar in the afternoon with a cup of tea. Now that does not sound excessive really, but it was something I never used to do before, also I never used to touch coffee, but a mug of black tea in the afternoon has always been a favourite with me!</p>
<p>The other eating habit change  my husband could see was at meal times and was simply this; I was putting more food on my plate, eating it faster and more importantly was the fact that I would now, never leave even a scrap of food on the plate any more. The  mixture  of the snack between meals and eating more at meal time is simple, more calories enter your body every day, more calories and energy than you need to maintain your body, the resulting product; weight gain!</p>
<p>My husband was never  disrespectful to me about my changing eating habits, he was simply responding to me and my questions about why can&rsquo;t I lose  weight. </p>
<p>My weight gain continued for several years after the birth of my second daughter, which resulted in to me growing in to quite a big girl, with the side effect to me of a lack of confidence and even <a href="http://www.huge-promo.com/panicaway/" target='_blank'>Panic Attacks</a>, you know the sort of thing, wearing baggy clothes, covering up as much as possible whilst out in public, if you have been there, you know just how it feels!</p>

<p>Although diabetes is manageable with proper glycemic control and insulin regimen, it has been estimated that about a third of diabetics have never been identified and therefore are never treated. So, the  question becomes how do we  halt this  widespread epidemic and how can those disposed to diabetes and obesity reduce the risk of  cardiovascular events in their future?</p>
<p>The solution is  simple.  Reducing one&rsquo;s sugar consumption, exercising daily, supplementing you food intake with good nutritional supplements, and eating healthy will increase one&rsquo;s chances of  living a healthy life. It sounds easy but as we &ldquo;foodies&rdquo; know, it&rsquo;s not quite that simple. We just have to  decide is it more important to fill our bodies with sugar laden goodies or to have  a few toes amputated in the future? </p>

In this day of junk food and  video games, it can be difficult to make the decision to eat  healthy and get  plenty of exercise. Everyone has their excuses but we need to give them hope that it can be done and examples of how to  start.</p>

<p>Vegetarian resource groups are open to exchanging ideas from topics like peer pressure and coming up with new snacks to eat. Use your group as a place to help with the challenges of your non-vegan friends. Plaining put, its the basic facts for the new vegetarian.</p>
<p>Standards for vegetarian are not the same, this society of vegetarians has many groups and sub groups with-in them. The strictest vegetarian is the vegan hands down with out even wearing a silk shirt because silk worms may have been caused harm in the process. Even the food labels do not know the different types.</p>
<p>Vegetarians that are the minimalist would eat eggs and cheese because it does not cause the death of an animal. Simple meals like tomato sauce and pasta has been an easy one for years. A food that is more of a cuisine is the Middle Eastern foods because they are innovational in taste.</p>
<p>Being a vegetarian is easy; it will not be a pain to do at all. Most of my adult life I was not a vegetarian, I listened to the claim that you need to eat meat for more muscle to grow. Then I hear the statement of cows just eat grass and look at all the meat they supply. Farms growing what we need has kept us hear for thousands of years.</p>
<p>I am going to try not to turn this into a rant, so please bear with me. Health care costs would be far less with vegetarian diet. The reason would be you would be eating far less fat, with that cancer rates would be less. Changes are there would be less obesity people in the world also.</p>
<p>If you try to cram yourself with all the vegetarian facts at once you will indeed overwhelm yourself. So do yourself a favor and take the lifestyle in slowly. Start making small changes like added more salads to your meals and eating more mushrooms with your meals. Making gradual changes like this is best when starting something new.</p>
<p>Your food will not be boring; your diet will be many of the same fruits and vegetables you eat today. Meat industry would have you belief you will just fall over, what a joke. It is advisable to live without meat, it&#8217;s healthier. The reason it is heather is you will have a permanent reduction in your weight, cholesterol and blood pressure.</p>

<p>I learned that the Sole F80 treadmill was the treadmill choice of upscale establishments like the Hilton Hotel chain. This intrigued me, so I took a look at the machine. I already knew that any piece of exercise equipment in a high-end establishment would be top of the line. Yet, I wanted to see for myself what made the Sole F80 so special.</p>
<p>When I first saw the machine, the word that came to my mind was: solid. The Sole F80 may not appear to have all of the bells and whistles of other machines, but it is a commercial-quality machine. And, looks can be deceiving. The Sole F80 has six workout programs, speed and incline controls on the arm rests, cooling fans and built in speakers for iPODS or MP3 players. Speed, time, incline, calories burned and distance are all shown throughout the workout, which means no button pushing during a workout to see your results!</p>
<p>The Sole F80 is a heavy duty machine. Yet, it&#8217;s easy to fold and comes with an easy assist folding feature. The machine is also easy to move and maneuver into a closet or out of the way corner of your home. All in all, I would classify it as a space saver and a must-see for anyone in the market for a new treadmill.</p>
<p>I learned that the Sole F80 model was upgraded in 2008 and it now comes with a powerful 3.0 continuous duty motor. The motor is very quiet and the machine is very smooth. It can easily handle a person up to 350 pounds with bogging down or straining the motor. I should note that this machine is for someone who walks or jogs. Serious runners should probably look for a machine that has a little more horsepower.</p>
<p>After doing some comparisons I found that the warranty on the Sole F80 is well above par. There is a lifetime warranty on the motor, deck and frame. The price of the machine is a steal, in my opinion, considering the warranty, durability and the features on this machine. It certainly outranks other machines in its price range. Another piece of information I found is that if you purchase the machine directly from the company you will get an instant $500 savings on the treadmill. All in all, I can see why Hilton and other upscale establishments have opted to have the Sole F80 on site. It&#8217;s a great machine.</p>

<p>I do a lot of research and writing on hoodia supplements. I realized that I haven&#8217;t written about the hoodia 60 minutes and BBC reports. I feel it&#8217;s important to bring these reports up because they are being twisted around on many websites. The claim that 60 minutes and the BBC endorsed a specific brand of hoodia diet pills is bogus. Don&#8217;t believe the lie.</p>
<p>There are a number of websites that promote or sell hoodia supplements that say &#8220;as seen on 60 minutes&#8221; or &#8220;endorsed by&#8221; followed by the logos of the BBC or the 60 minutes program. This is a misrepresentation because it leads many consumers to believe that the product being sold is endorsed by these two media giants. When, in all actuality, neither of them have endorsed or tested a hoodia diet supplement.</p>
<p>60 minutes did do a hoodia story on November 21, 2004. Reporter, Leslie Stahl, went to the Kalahari Desert in South Africa to see the hoodia gordonii plant growing in the wild. She wanted to eat a small piece of it herself to see if it affected her appetite. After eating the plant, Stahl reported the hoodia gordonii plant worked to suppress her appetite and she wasn&#8217;t hungry the entire day.</p>
<p>This was all that Stahl reported about hoodia. Stahl, nor 60 minutes, endorsed a specific brand of hoodia diet pill. In fact, 60 minutes didn&#8217;t even feature a specific hoodia supplement in their show. But, you wouldn&#8217;t know this unless you had seen the program yourself or read the show&#8217;s transcript. Hoodia sellers are simply taking this report and twisting it around to their advantage in an attempt to sell their specific hoodia supplements.</p>
<p>The BBC report is another example where hoodia sellers have taken a story and have spun it to their advantage. The BBC did a documentary on hoodia in 2003. Tom Mangold, a well-known BBC correspondent, also traveled to the Kalahari Desert to try the hoodia gordonii plant himself. Mr. Mangold and his camera man each ate a small piece of the plant. The pair reported that they, &#8220;did not even think about food&#8221; for the rest of the day. Even more amazing, they reported that they didn&#8217;t want breakfast the next morning and their appetite during lunchtime was nearly nonexistent.</p>
<p>As before with the hoodia 60 minutes report, the BBC did not test a specific hoodia supplement, or endorse one. All that Stahl and Mangold did was test the plant directly to get a first hand report on whether the plant controlled their appetites. Neither journalist endorsed or tested a particular hoodia supplement.</p>
<p>Any website that is trying to sell their hoodia product by claiming it was seen on 60 Minutes or the BBC is lying. As you can see, the hoodia 60 minutes and BBC reports have been misrepresented. Any company that has to be dishonest to sell their products shouldn&#8217;t be trusted. It makes me wonder what else they are exaggerating or out right lying about to make a sell?</p>

<p>Losing weight seems like a huge struggle for many people today, and the huge number of different weight loss plans isn&#8217;t helping the situation any.</p>
<p>Some plans suggest eating only low fat foods, and others eating only low-carb.</p>
<p>Many used to think that losing weight is just a matter of cutting a meal or two out, but recent research shows that eating more meals a day is better.</p>
<p>Some promote dietary supplements, others doing it with diet changes.</p>
<p>Some say to do a lot of aerobic exercise every day.  Others say lift weights.</p>
<p>But other factors may come into play besides the usual diet and exercise strategies, for some people to lose weight and keep it off.</p>
<p>We now know that some of the foods we eat are resulting in digestive problems that make weight loss a bigger problem than simply changing our diet a bit, or exercising more.   Research released recently by Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst supports this.</p>
<p>Plaque and parasites in the stomach and colon are known to make weight loss a much bigger issue for some people, even if they are exercising more and eating less.</p>

<p>Take a quick look around and you&#8217;ll observe the costly obesity crisis that is slowly overtaking our nation. How bad has it become you may say?  Consider the idea that we are now seeing individuals parking in handicap parking spots to avoid having to park just a few extra feet away from a building.</p>
<p>In all honesty, we can not totally place the blame for this on the individuals themselves.  Several studies have shown that for a number of people, their chemical and genetic makeup aide in their body&#8217;s ability to process certain fats. Sure being 100 plus pounds over weight might have been good in the Ice Age but today this is simply not the case.</p>
<p>We must not allow our children to become victims of an over active appetite.  If you pay close attention to the dietary counselors, you&#8217;ll discover that a slightly overweight child soon becomes an overweight teen.  As you may have already guessed, this teen now becomes an obese adult. Unfortunately, abnormal weight gain is the least of the problem. It doesn&#8217;t have to cost the earth to get fit, and it&#8217;s very possible that you&#8217;ve got everything you need in your home!</p>
<p>Resistance training may sound like a harsh word but the reality is that all you&#8217;re doing is a bit of weight training which will tone up any flabby bits.  The best thing about this is you can do it in the privacy of your own home, whenever you&#8217;ve got a few minutes to spare - whilst supper&#8217;s cooking or your bubble bath is running for example.</p>
<p>Squats are one form of resistance training that don&#8217;t cost a single dime and they&#8217;re easy to do.  Once you get the hang of them you can increase how many you do.  Repetitions are what counts when it comes to resistance training - many repetitions make for a better toned body so start out small and add a couple of repetitions every couple of days.  To do squats correctly hold your arms straight out in front of you, keep your back straight, tummy tight and bend at your knees. Move downwards sticking your bottom out and then back up to your starting position again.  Continue doing this to the count of ten or whatever your desired repetition number is. Squats help to strengthen not only your leg muscles but will also work your back, knees and hips.</p>
<p>Although dumbbells aren&#8217;t expensive, if you don&#8217;t have the money you can always use a canned food item or bottled water - remember it&#8217;s repetitions that you&#8217;re going for with resistance training. It doesn&#8217;t have to be a few pounds, just half a pound in each hand can be enough to tone up your muscles.   Dumbbells are great form of toning exercise because you can use them just about anywhere these days. You can even sit in your house on your couch and lift them whilst you watch your favorite game show, or if you prefer buy a special pair and go jogging with them.</p>
<p>Here are a few examples of a few dumbbell exercises:</p>
<p>Side Shoulder Raise:  Start with your arms down at your side and bent at the elbows just slightly with a dumbbell in each hand.  Raise your arms up and out to the side until you have them shoulder high and hold the position for a few seconds before lowering them back down.</p>
<p>Bicep curls: Your arms should be down in front of you and slightly bent.  You should have one dumbbell in each hand, facing out. Slowly bring your arms up, elbows bent until they meet your shoulders and then lower them back down to the starting position.</p>
<p>Other resistance equipment you might want to purchase are balls, stretch ropes, jump ropes and maybe even some mood music to help you focus better.  You need to work towards incorporating some form of resistance training three days a week for about 20 minutes at a time.</p>
<p>Before and after any work-out you should stretch all your muscles as this helps protect them from damage as you exercise.  Keep in mind that if you&#8217;re just starting out you&#8217;ll need to take things slowly, but as your body gets stronger you&#8217;ll be able to do a lot more. The moment something starts to hurt you must stop. You should never feel pain during a work-out, if you do; you are trying to do too much too soon. Best advice is to make sure you enjoy your resistance training by choosing a form that you really enjoy and think of as fun rather than a physical training chore.</p>

<p>Obesity is an issue that is taking the forefront in not only the news, but with health professionals around the world.  The consequences of obesity impact many areas of a person&#8217;s day to day life.  Patients that are obese, not only suffer from health problems, but the emotional scars are also a painful reality.</p>

<p>A person&#8217;s healthy weight range can be seen in a body mass index chart.  The National Institute of Health has many tools that can be viewed online to determine if your weight is within the range that is considered healthy.</p>

<p>If a person is substantial above a healthy weight range, the consequences of obesity can be seen.  One of the consequences of obesity is the increased risk of diabetes.  The pancreases are responsible for keeping blood glucose or sugar levels normal within in a person&#8217;s body.  People, who are obese, often have very high levels of glucose, causing the pancreases to work over time to maintain a balance.  This can result in the pancreas becoming over loaded and shutting down, and then diabetes is the end result.</p>

<p>Society views obesity as a self-control issue and people that are obese are not always looked upon with compassion.  From airlines requiring people to buy two seats to restaurants having chairs that are too small, many obese patients feel shunned by society.  This is not productive in the treatment of this disorder, and patients need to seek out a support group that can assist them in their day to day lives.</p>
<p>There are many consequences of obesity, and physicians and researchers are working to find ways to combat this disorder and help people find ways to maintain their health.</p></p>
